Huntington County Criminal and Civil Records

In Huntington County, the County Superior Court and Circuit Court have shared jurisdiction over all criminal and civil cases that arise in the county. Furthermore, the Huntington County Clerk is the primary custodian of all case records generated by both courts. Hence, interested persons get Huntington County criminal and civil case records through the Huntington County Clerk.

Huntington County Divorce Records

Huntington County divorce records are maintained by and accessible through the Huntington County Clerk. Like marriage records, interested persons can visit the County Clerk’s office during regular office hours to conduct genealogy research for divorce records.

Alternatively, record seekers can draft written requests for the desired divorce records and submit them by mail or fax to the Huntington County Clerk’s office. The written request must contain information about the divorce, such as the parties' names, the divorce date, and the requester's contact information. The charge for a regular copy of a divorce record is $1.00 per page and $3.00 per certification, payable by cash, credit card, debit card, or money order only. Huntington County Birth Records

The Huntington County Health Department is the primary custodian of Huntington County vital records, such as birth and death records dating back to 1882. As a result, Interested persons can obtain certified and uncertified copies of Huntington County birth certificates through the County Health Department. A certified birth certificate costs $15.00, while an uncertified copy costs $10.

Certified birth certificates may be required for school enrollment, international travel (passport application), social security, license/permit registration, and other official purposes. Meanwhile, uncertified birth certificates are merely informative and can not be used for official purposes.

Generally, only certain eligible persons are allowed access to certified copies of a birth certificate. These eligible persons include the individual named on the record (registrant), provided they are over 18, and their immediate family members, such as their spouse, legal guardian, parents, sibling over 21, and adult child. On the other hand, the general public is allowed access to uncertified birth records.
