Jasper County Arrest Records
Jasper County arrest records are legal documents filed or created to document instances of a person being taken into custody by law enforcement agencies under suspicion of committing a crime. When a person breaks state statutes, a law enforcement officer is authorized to arrest them with a warrant (if probable cause is established) or without if the officer witnesses the crime.
Arrestees are taken to the Jasper County Jail, where they are booked into the jail’s database. Information collected during the process makes up the arrestee’s arrest record, and if the case makes it to trial, it becomes part of Jasper County Court Records.
Are Arrest Records Public in Jasper County?

Third-party websites are also useful resources for finding basic inmate information as long as the record requester has key information about the arrestee such as their full name. They are beneficial as they provide a source of arrest records of various counties and also include state and federal records that are publicly available. Information from third-party resources may not be as complete as records from the official government source when compared.
How Long Do Arrests Stay on Your Record?
Indefinitely. Without being expunged, an arrest record will stay on a person’s record forever no matter how much time has passed since the conviction. As these records are publicly available when a criminal history check is carried out, the record can adversely affect the arrestee's day-to-day life in areas like renting a property, getting a license, getting a loan, etc.
Expunge Jasper County Arrest Records
Expunction is the legal process of removing or sealing a person’s criminal history from public view. The process is not automatic and not all crimes are eligible for expunction. It is important to note that expunged records are not destroyed in Indiana. They are simply removed from public view and can be accessed by certain government agencies exempted from expunction restrictions. According to Indiana law, the following eligibility criteria must be met to expunge Jasper County Arrest Records.
- The crime must be a non-violent offense.
- All sentences, paroles, and probation periods for the crime must have been completed.
- The waiting period for the crime before an application for expunction can be made has been satisfied.

- Ensure the charge is eligible for expunction
- File a petition for expunction with the court jurisdiction either by yourself or using a legal counsel
- Contact the Jasper County Clerk’s Office or the Indiana State Police Expungement Section to get further document requirements for expunction
- The petition is reviewed and if necessary, the arrestee is asked to attend a hearing to present their case
- If the expunction is granted, the criminal history is sealed from public view
Jasper County Arrest Warrants
Arrest warrants are legal documents authorizing law enforcement officers to take a person suspected of committing a crime into custody. Arrest warrants work by validating an arrest and are only issued when probable cause (proof that the accused committed the crime without reasonable doubt) has been established by the arresting officer. Arrest warrants justify an arrest under the United States Fourth Amendment and help ensure that a person who commits a crime is taken into custody to await legal proceedings and see the repercussions of their crime. Arrest warrants are issued in writing when there is probable cause that a person commits a crime, defaults on child support payments, breaks parole, fails to honor a summons, or is caught running away from a crime scene. Per the Ind. Code § 35-33-2-2, the information contained in a Jasper County arrest warrant typically includes the following:
- Name or identifiable description of the person to be arrested
- County and date of warrant issuance
- Order for the arrest
- Bail or bond information
- Signature of issuing judge.
Do Jasper County Arrest Warrants Expire?
It depends. In Indiana, arrest warrants for rearrests and felonies do not expire, but arrest warrants for misdemeanors expire 180 days after they are issued. Indiana Code § 35-33-2-4 specifies the conditions for the expiry of warrants and governs the process of the Sheriff getting a warrant reissue if needed. The execution of a warrant can also be interrupted if a judge recalls it. A judge can recall a warrant due to new developments in the case, such as how long it has been active, the nature of the charge, and the arrestee’s previous records.
