Spencer County Court Records Search

There are two options available for searching court records in Spencer County. The first is available online through the Case Search portal, which provides free access to case information. The second is in person at the Spencer County Clerk’s Office.

Spencer County Courts

Spencer County Criminal and Civil Records

The easiest place to find Spencer County criminal and civil court records is online through the Case Search portal. This service is free. Users may click the Name tab to search by party name, the Case tab to search by case number, or the Attorney tab to search by name or bar number. To limit the search, scroll to the case type area and select Civil and Criminal.

Individuals seeking copies of criminal and civil records may submit their requests in person at the Spencer County Clerk’s Office. In-person requests incur a fee of $1 per page for plain copies of divorce records and $3 per document, plus $1 per page, for certified copies. Record seekers may also find criminal records, including Spencer County arrest records, in person at the Sheriff’s Office.

Spencer County Marriage Records

Anyone may obtain certified copies of marriage records by submitting a written request to the Spencer County Clerk’s Office. The written request should contain the couple’s full names and the date of the marriage. Spencer County Divorce Records

Certified and noncertified copies of divorce records may be obtained from the Spencer County Clerk’s Office. Requesters may visit the office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The records staff may ask that the record seeker complete a form or provide a name or case number to facilitate the search. Once the record is located, the staff will charge $1 per page for plain copies of divorce records and $3 per document plus $1 per page for certified copies.

Interested individuals may view nonconfidential divorce cases at no charge through the Case Search portal. Users will need the party’s name, case number, or the attorney’s name to conduct the search. They may select the family box to narrow their searches.

Spencer Birth Records

The Vital Records Section of the Spencer County Health Department is the custodian of birth records from 1882 to the present. Individuals may obtain these records by mail or in person. In-person applicants may visit the Department Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a valid photo ID and a $10 fee. Those applying by mail must submit a completed Birth Certificate Request Form, a valid photo ID, and the appropriate fees to the Department. The processing time for mail requests is 3-5 working days.

Spencer Death Records

The Spencer County Health Department’s Vital Records Section issues death records by mail and in person during business hours. Requests must be accompanied by a valid photo ID and a $10 fee. Individuals submitting their requests by mail should send a Death Certificate Request Form, a check or money order, a valid ID, and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Department.

Spencer County Probate Court Records

The Spencer County Clerk’s Office provides copies of probate court records in person during business hours. Anyone seeking such records should be prepared to provide basic information to assist the records staff in conducting a search. A fee will be required before the records will be released to the requester. Probate court information is also available online, free of charge, through the Case Search portal. Users may click the Name tab to search by party name, the Case tab to search by case number, or the Attorney tab to search by name or bar number. During the search, users should limit their searches by scrolling to the case type area and selecting Probate.

Spencer County Property Records

The Spencer County Recorder's Office maintains property records. Individuals may visit the office during business hours to request copies of property records. Plain copies of property records 11 by 17 inches or smaller cost $1 per page, while copies larger than 11 by 17 inches cost $5 per page. Certified copies of property records cost $5 per page per document. The Spencer County Recorder's Office also partners with third-party vendors to provide online access to property records. These services attract a search fee.

Residents may also find property records online or in person at the Spencer County Auditor and Treasurer's Offices. They will need a name, address, or parcel number to locate their desired records.
